EGB is All About Energy Savings

The following are among the results of a recent survey of mechanical systems designers/specifiers:

  • 47% said the COST OF ENERGY has the greatest impact on driving the green-building market.
  • 27% named ENERGY EFFICIENCY as the number one criteria for determining whether or not a building is green.
  • 37% indicated ENERGY SAVINGS is the most important factor for determining if a product is appropriate for a green building.

The common thread, obviously, is ENERGY. Specifically, SAVING ENERGY. While energy efficiency and optimum building performance have always been goals of a good building design, in today’s resource-challenged world, an even greater premium is being placed on reducing energy consumption than ever before.

Commercial buildings consume a lot of energy (39% of all energy consumed at a cost of $108 billion each year). More than a third of that, about 35%, is used for space heating and cooling. So significant savings can be achieved by designing more efficient mechanical systems. In fact, green buildings use 32% less energy than conventional buildings.

Produced and managed by HPAC Engineering, the Engineering Green Buildings Conference & Expo is the only green-design event focused on green engineering applications as they apply to mechanical systems for commercial, industrial and institutional buildings.

  • EGB 2008 is the ideal place to learn how mechanical systems can be designed to help reduce a building’s overall energy consumption and achieve green initiatives.
  • Topics will cover energy-saving methods, energy alternatives, energy generation, energy recovery and more.
  • Real-world case studies and examples of how to apply energy-saving green-design strategies will be integral to EGB conference presentations.

EGB 2008 will be held October 21-22 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. This event is a must-attend for mechanical engineers and buildings professionals who design and specify HVAC systems for non-residential buildings.
